The Bone Densitometry (Dexascan) test is a simple x-ray test used to determine if you have osteoporosis (porous bones). Osteoporosis is a debilitating disease that today can be prevented and treated if diagnosed early.

How do I prepare for this test?
No preparation is necessary. Your physician only needs to request this procedure.

How long will it take?
Less than 15 minutes.

What can I expect during the test?
You will lie comfortably on an osteoporosis exam table. The registered technologist scans two or more areas, usually the hip and lower spine.

What can I expect after the test?
Your scan will be interpreted by a local board certified radiologist usually the same day the procedure is performed.
