CAD (Computerized Aided Detection) utilizes specialized computer software to analyze the mammogram images to draw the radiologists attention to suspicious features that may represent cancer. If an area is marked by the computer, the radiologist will then go back to the original mammogram images to review this area in more detail. CAD is now considered the standard of care in mammography centers across the country. Studies have shown a 19% increase in early cancer detection when using CAD. While the Radiologist will always be the decision maker for the final diagnosis, it is clear the CAD system improves the ability of the radiologist to detect very early breast cancers. How do I prepare for this test? How long will it take? |
